Dr. Lejun Zhang is a Senior Lecturer in Economic Geology at the Centre for Ore Deposit and Earth Sciences (CODES) at the University of Tasmania. He did his PhD studies on a skarn deposit in the Middle Lower Yangtze belt in China. His research is focused on characterising the geochemical footprints of magmatic-hydrothermal ore deposits, particularly lithocaps and high sulfidation epithermal deposits, and the processes that control element dispersion. He specializes in applying spectral, whole-rock, and alteration mineral chemistry data for enhancing exploration in lithocap environments. He works closely with exploration and mining professionals to develop new exploration tools, exploration models, and to advance the understanding of the formation of ore systems that span across continents, including North America, South America, Europe, Asia, and Australia.
