Rocky graduated from the South Australian Institute of Technology
with a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Applied Geology in 1979 and
worked for BP Minerals from 1979 until 1989 in Australia and Brazil as an
underground mine and exploration geologist and was responsible for the
discovery of the Rocky’s Reward nickel mine in W.A. (1985), and the Santa
Helena Zn, Cu, Ag mine in Brazil (1986), as well as occupying the position
of Geology Manager at the Cabaçal 1 underground gold mine in Brazil.
* In 1989 Rocky joined WMC in Brazil as Senior Geologist rising to the
rank of Principal Geologist, leading teams responsible for the discovery of
the Boa Vista nickel deposit (1994) and the Sertão gold mine (1997),
returning to Australia in 2002 to become involved in global nickel sulphide
targeting in Africa, Canada, China, and South America.
* From 2006 to 2009 he joined the Mitchell River Group as Chief
Geologist for the affiliated companies Albidon Limited in Zambia (Munali
Nickel mine) and Mirabela Nickel Limited in Brazil (Santa Rita Nickel mine).
* From 2009 he was Principal Geologist with Emmerson Resources Limited
(Tennant Creek Goldfield) until 2014 when he became a full-time consultant.
