Weronika Gorczyk is a geoscientist whose career began deep in the world geodynamics. Received a PhD from ETH-Zurich, she first plunged into the complex world of subduction zones, building numerical models to untangle how plates dive, deform, and sometimes misbehave while they dehydrate. In her further endeavours she went across the full spectrum of tectonic settings—with specific interest in understanding gold, coper and nickel mineralisation. By shear accident she emerged to sedimentary basins and copper copper mineralisation. These days, she explores their evolution from the very bottom of the lithosphere to the layers that trap fluids, metals, and big exploration dreams.
After a brief but tasty stint at CSIRO, Weronika spent many years at UWA, leading research programs that bridged academic insight with industry reality. Now, as a consultant, she thrives on tackling basin-hosted mineral systems, piecing together structural, geodynamic, and fluid-flow puzzles for explorers and researchers alike. When she’s not wrangling data into something useful, you’ll likely find her hiking, biking, or kayaking with her two adventurous boys, proving that geoscience isn’t the only thing in life that gets messy, dynamic, and a bit unpredictable.
